SkinGuide Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 31, 2026
Vantage App Ventures LLC (“Vantage App Ventures,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates SkinGuide, a skincare and personal-care application designed to help users analyze products, understand ingredient information, receive personalized skincare guidance, build routines, and organize products.
This Privacy Policy explains what information SkinGuide collects, how that information is used, where it may be stored, when it may be shared with service providers, and the choices available to you.
By using SkinGuide, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information You Provide
When you create or use a SkinGuide account, you may provide information such as:
- Email address
- Display name
- Authentication information
- Skincare profile information
- Skin type
- Skin concerns and goals
- Product sensitivities or avoidances
- Skincare preferences
- Budget and shopping preferences
- Routine preferences
- Sunscreen habits
- Product types currently used
- Routine completion information
- Products saved to My Shelf or Favorites
If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide us with information associated with your Apple sign-in according to the permissions you select.
SkinGuide does not currently offer Google Sign-In through the live app interface, although support may exist in underlying code for future use.
2. Skin Analysis Information
If you use SkinGuide’s skin-analysis features, you may submit a facial image for analysis.
SkinGuide may use the image to generate cosmetic skincare observations such as:
- Estimated skin type
- Visible skin characteristics
- Areas of focus
- Personalized skincare suggestions
- Skin Match or related compatibility information
Skin-analysis images may be stored locally on your device and, if you are signed in, may also be stored in private cloud storage associated with your account so that scan history or related features can function.
SkinGuide is not a medical service, and these analyses are intended for informational and cosmetic skincare purposes only.
3. Product and Shelf Scans
When you scan or analyze a skincare or personal-care product, SkinGuide may collect or derive information such as:
- Product image
- Barcode or EAN
- Brand
- Product name
- Product category
- Ingredient list
- Health Rating
- Skin Match score
- Compatibility analysis
- Product recommendations
- Saved-product or Favorite status
Product images may be stored locally on your device and, when you are signed in, may also be stored in private cloud storage associated with your account for saved-product, scan-history, or related functionality.
Product information may also be sent to third-party product-data services in order to retrieve ingredient or composition information.
4. Ask SkinGuide and AI Features
If you use Ask SkinGuide or other AI-powered features, SkinGuide may send information necessary to generate a response, including:
- Your message
- A limited amount of recent chat context
- Relevant skincare profile information
- Recent scan summaries
- Shelf information
- Routine summaries
- Product context
- Images used for supported analysis features
AI requests are processed through our backend and may be sent to OpenAI.
SkinGuide does not intentionally send your Supabase user ID, email address, or account credentials to OpenAI as part of normal AI requests.
Ask SkinGuide chat history is currently session-based and is not persistently synchronized to your account. Chat history is cleared when the session is reset, including after logout or account switching.
5. Location and UV Information
SkinGuide may request access to your device location to provide UV-related information.
When permitted, SkinGuide may use latitude and longitude to retrieve information such as:
- Current UV index
- UV conditions
- Sunscreen timing guidance
- Sunrise and sunset information
- Approximate location labels
Location information may be sent to third-party weather or geolocation providers.
SkinGuide does not maintain a persistent location-history database tied to your account.
If device location is not available, approximate location may be estimated using network information such as an IP address.
6. Routine and Personalization Data
SkinGuide may store information related to your skincare routine, including:
- Morning and evening routines
- Routine steps
- Routine completion history
- Reminder preferences
- Personalized product suggestions
- Skin Match information
- Routine recommendations
This information may be stored locally and synchronized to your account so that your routine can persist across sessions and devices.
7. Purchases and Subscriptions
SkinGuide offers paid subscriptions and may use Apple, RevenueCat, and Superwall to manage subscription access, entitlement status, paywalls, and purchase-related events.
We may receive or process information such as:
- Subscription product identifiers
- Entitlement status
- Purchase status
- Restore-purchase events
- App Store transaction information made available through these services
SkinGuide does not receive or store your full payment-card details. Payments are processed by Apple or another applicable app-store provider.
Deleting your SkinGuide account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. Subscription cancellation must be handled through your Apple account or applicable app-store subscription settings.
8. Analytics and Diagnostics
SkinGuide uses analytics and diagnostic tools to understand how the app is used, improve performance, and identify technical issues.
PostHog
SkinGuide uses PostHog for product analytics.
PostHog may receive:
- SkinGuide user ID when you are signed in
- App interaction events
- Onboarding events
- Scan-related events
- Routine-related events
- Paywall events
- Product Finder events
- General feature-usage information
SkinGuide is configured not to intentionally send sensitive content such as passwords, images, chat-message text, ingredient lists, or full skincare profiles to PostHog.
Sentry
SkinGuide uses Sentry for error monitoring and crash diagnostics.
Sentry may receive technical information such as:
- App version
- Device and operating-system information
- Error messages
- Stack traces
- Technical diagnostics
SkinGuide is configured to minimize personally identifiable information sent through Sentry.
9. Product Data Sources
SkinGuide may use third-party product and ingredient-data sources to identify products and retrieve ingredient or composition information.
These may include:
- INCI Beauty Pro
- Open Beauty Facts
- DailyMed or other public product-label sources
- Manufacturer product information
For INCI Beauty Pro, SkinGuide may send an exact product EAN or barcode to retrieve product composition information.
SkinGuide does not intentionally send your account profile, facial image, product image, email address, or user ID to INCI Beauty Pro for these ingredient lookups.
10. De-Identified Product Evidence
When SkinGuide obtains a reliable product identity and ingredient result, we may retain product-level information in a shared product-evidence system to improve future product resolution and reduce repeated data lookups.
This information may include:
- Brand
- Product name
- Barcode or EAN
- Ingredient information
- Formula fingerprint
- Product category
- Product-level analysis metadata
This shared evidence is designed to be product-level and is not intended to include your user ID, personal skincare profile, chat content, or personal scan image.
Because this product evidence is not linked to your personal account, it may remain after your account is deleted.
11. Local Storage and Cloud Storage
SkinGuide uses local device storage to retain certain app information and may use Supabase for cloud synchronization.
Depending on the feature, data may be stored in:
- Local device storage
- Secure device storage
- Supabase database services
- Private Supabase Storage
- Temporary backend caches
Private scan images stored through Supabase are protected by account-based access controls and may be accessed through time-limited signed URLs when needed by the app.
12. Notifications
SkinGuide may use local device notifications for skincare reminders or routine reminders.
The current implementation does not rely on a remotely stored push-notification token for these reminder features.
You can manage notification permissions through your device settings.
13. How We Use Information
We use information collected through SkinGuide to:

15. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information handled by SkinGuide.
These measures may include:
- HTTPS for network communication
- Authentication controls
- Supabase Row Level Security
- Private cloud-storage buckets
- Time-limited signed URLs
- Secure storage of authentication tokens on supported devices
- Server-side storage of private API keys
- Logging and analytics controls designed to reduce unnecessary personal information
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Data Retention
We retain account-linked information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide SkinGuide or until the associated account is deleted, subject to technical, legal, security, and third-party retention requirements.
SkinGuide does not currently define a single universal retention period for all categories of data.
Some information may be retained for longer periods by third parties, including:
- Apple transaction records
- RevenueCat subscription records
- Analytics or diagnostic providers
- Infrastructure and security logs
De-identified product-level evidence may be retained after account deletion because it is not linked to your personal account.
17. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your SkinGuide account through the app.
Account deletion is designed to remove account-linked information stored in SkinGuide’s database, including data such as:
- Profile data
- Saved products
- Favorites
- Skin-analysis records
- Routine information
- Routine-completion history
SkinGuide also attempts to remove cloud-stored scan images associated with your account and clears applicable local app data.
Because image deletion may rely on network access and third-party storage systems, we do not guarantee that every technical copy is removed instantaneously.
Certain information may remain after account deletion, including:
- Apple or RevenueCat purchase records
- Historical analytics or diagnostic records maintained by third-party providers
- Infrastructure logs
- De-identified product-level evidence that is no longer linked to your account
Deleting your SkinGuide account does not cancel an active App Store subscription.
18. Children’s Privacy
SkinGuide is intended for users age 13 and older.
We do not knowingly design SkinGuide for children under 13.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to address the issue.
19. International Processing
SkinGuide and its service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where those providers operate.
By using SkinGuide, your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions other than the jurisdiction where you live.
20. Your Choices
Depending on the feature, you may be able to:
- Update your skincare profile
- Remove saved products
- Remove Favorites
- Manage notification permissions
- Decline location permission
- Delete your SkinGuide account
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple
You may also contact us regarding privacy questions or requests.
21. No Sale of Personal Information
Vantage App Ventures does not sell personal information collected through SkinGuide.
SkinGuide does not use third-party advertising networks and does not use IDFA-based cross-app advertising tracking.
22. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as SkinGuide changes, new features are added, or legal requirements evolve.
If we make material changes, we may update the effective date or provide additional notice where appropriate.
Continued use of SkinGuide after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acknowledgment of the revised policy where permitted by law.
